This audit would assess the effectiveness of social work services provided by Services Australia through Centrelink.

Around 700 social workers deliver short-term crisis intervention for customers presenting with more complex needs, with the goal of stabilising those customers’ circumstances. This intervention includes assessment, counselling, support and referral, and some case work.

In assessing the effectiveness of Centrelink’s social work services, this audit would include examining the intended benefits and the performance of these services.
