This audit would examine the effectiveness of the allocation of funding for assistive technology supports under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Assistive technology refers to devices or equipment that assist people with disability to do things more easily, safely or independently. Funding for assistive technology under the NDIS must meet ‘reasonable and necessary’ decision criteria. Depending on the cost of the technology, NDIS participants seeking to have funding for assistive technology added to their support plan must provide varying levels of evidence to the National Disability Insurance Agency as to their need for the device or equipment and how it will help them pursue their goals.
