The ANAO could assess whether the award of grant funding under the Supporting Multicultural Communities Program was effective and consistent with the Commonwealth Grant Rules and Principles. The program is to provide direct support to multicultural community organisations. It is being delivered through seven invitation-only, closed non-competitive grants opportunities in three streams: infrastructure; amenities; and events and programs. The program is to fulfil the 2025 election commitments. The program guidelines identified the more than 160 organisations that were eligible to apply. Applications opened between October 2025 and April 2026, with $172 million in grant funding available.
